2014-10-03 Updated News Articles Wetlands Restoration Project Mobilizes to Dredge Inlet

Project Abstract

The San Dieguito Wetlands Restoration Project will restore 150 acres of coastal wetlands in the San Dieguito River Valley within the City of Del Mar and City of San Diego. This project is estimated to take approximately 3 years to complete. The Restoration's main features include:

  • Restoring tidal wetlands areas
  • Constructing berms and associated drainage and slope protection measures
  • Vegetating dredge disposal areas
  • Constructing nesting sites
  • Constructing nesting sites
  • Improving beach access along the river from Camino Del Mar
  • Excavating & maintaining the San Dieguito river inlet channel to maintain tidal exchange
